A pioneer of Detroit techno, Eddie Fowlkes boasts a discography of over 150 releases. Practically since his first EP was issued on Juan Atkins' Metroplex in 1986, he's been an integral part of the city's rich musical history. In the early 90s, after working closely with Berlin's budding techno scene surrounding Hardwax and Tresor, he cultivated a subgenre that he termed technosoul, characterized by its understatement and influenced by 70s funk, Motown and Chicago house. His latest productions, released in the form of two EPs each on Classic Music Company and Rekids, sound as fresh and compelling as ever with their swingy percussion, punchy drums and trippy vocals. Tonight, Fowlkes joins Rekids boss Radio Slave, Katerina and Monty Luke, also from Detroit, playing at Panorama Bar for the first time in ten years.
