The November edition of Reef features, as usual, an expansive line-up that offers various permutations of UK bass, techno and breakbeats. Hailing from Dublin, EMA is a DJ, founder of the Woozy label and its eponymous party, booker at nightclub Yamamori Tengu in the Irish capital, Rinse FM resident and co-founder of the Skin&Blister collective, which promotes women, trans and non-binary creatives. Online culture, human overload, burnout and excessive consumerism are the topics Lee Gamble continues to explore musically. Released in late October, his new album Models reveals a kind of fusion between hyperpop and trip-hop, featuring ballads sung by cybernetic voices. Also present will be French DJ/producer Toma Kami, whose latest EP on Livity Sound has been described by Hard Wax as “outernational drumming-inspired, smart, trippy tech-house grooves”. In his sets, he mixes deep bass music, techno, jungle, electro and rap.
