The music scene in Tokyo is a haven for tech nerds, marked by an extremely high level of quality, from listening bars and well-stocked record shops to high-end equipment in clubs, including specialized DJ cartridges and soundsystems. Perhaps less well known is that there are also sex-positive, queer parties. Since 2020, Mari Sakurai has been co-organizing the queer open-air party SLICK, regularly collaborating with party collectives from Berlin. Her DJ style is defined by fast, powerful techno, but she's not afraid to incorporate experimental ambient tracks into her sets. For this edition of Klubnacht, she will be making her Berghain debut. Charles Moon, who lives in Los Angeles and Mexico City, will be playing at Panorama Bar for the first time. As a sound engineer, he was nominated for a Grammy for his work on the hip-hop album Big Baby DRAM, and as a DJ, he plays extremely deep US house tracks and recently founded his own label, Thank You For Sweating.
