CTM Festival 2024 - Sustain

James Ginzburg and Riccardo La Foresta kick off an evening of concerts with a hypnotic, performative sound installation that explores percussive resonances and drones. Percussionist La Foresta plays complex patterns on his drummophone, that is, four bass drums that resonate via air currents generated by computer-controlled blowing units. Ocrilim is the solo project of New York guitarist Mick Barr, who is best known as the leader of the black/post-metal bands Krallice and Orthrelm. Active since the mid-90s, Barr is an uncompromisingly productive figure active in the worlds of extreme metal and the avant-garde. Both solo and as a duo with drummer Tim Wiskyd, Ocrilim creates works of profound complexity with his rigorously minimalist approach, offering a continuous flow of repetitive, distorted guitar phrases. In “Kalkül der Form”, Max Eilbacher (Horse Lords) and Phillip Sollmann (Efdemin) present their first collaboration, a multi-channel, digital synthesis system.
