Tama Sumo & Prosumer
Play Up | Brothers, Sisters
What is house music? A question that keeps coming up for decades now. Our catalogue number 14 has been produced by Tama Sumo and Prosumer collaboratively. At the same time it marks the first release ever by Tama Sumo, whose DJ career started in 1993. When Tama claims „Bass makes you happy!“, then this is not only true for her very funky sunday afternoon sets as a resident at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, but it also applies to both tracks born out of her friendship with Achim „Prosumer“ Brandenburg. „Play Up“ and „Brothers, Sisters“: Two tracks reminiscent of Trax. Kickdrums and basslines dig deep; funky, short quitar licks lead up to breaks after which arms fly to heaven and sweat drips from the ceiling. Prosumer just knows how to create those special moments by using only a few select, simple elements. A technique, Tama Sumo is , as it seems, familiar with as well. You can call it the everlasting laws of the old school!
