Godmother / Robin and the Goblins

Two acts from Berlin's queer music scene are celebrating the launch of their respective new singles: Godmother with “I'll Never Learn” and Robin and the Goblins with “Blood From Stone”.

Robin and the Goblins’ unique blend of baroque pop and whimsical storytelling feels like being led through a haunted fairy tale. Through characters straight out of a troubled wonderland, the non-binary artist from Spain explores identity, alienation and dreams. In 2019, Robin began an ongoing series of singles with Choirboys – “a feat Kate Bush would be proud of,” according to The 405.

Godmother are critical theory in pop-music drag. A non-binary identity gets turned inside-out, becoming a worldview that challenges false dichotomies such as self/other, real/artificial, sincerity/irony – with a catchy melody and a beat. Their 2018 self-titled debut album was accompanied by a release concert at the Roter Salon of the Volksbühne Berlin.
