For the second edition of »debut«, German record label and artistic platform raster will present two new live shows: »Pounding« by one of the labels mainstay artists, Frank Bretschneider, as well as »Reflex« by label newcomer Gábor Lázár.

Musician, composer, and video artist Frank Bretschneider is currently working on material that is mostly electronic. His latest album »Pounding« is based on minimal, repetitive structures and intricate textures whose complex sound seems to be inspired by the experimental arrangements of modern physics. After his time in the avant-garde pop band AG Geige, Bretschneider has played a major role in shaping the sound of contemporary techno music since the 1990s, in particular through the label raster. In Bretschneiders hands, the groove – something that is often presumed to be dogma in the world of club music – seems precarious and unstable. Pulse and accent are ephemeral, needing to be rediscovered time and again. As a result, Bretschneiders music feels like a constant negotiation within a continuous, ever-changing stream of occurrences; never straightforward, always restless and exciting.

Gábor Lázár is a Hungarian artist producing electronic music at the intersection of advanced club music, music technology and the aesthetic tendencies related to the culture of computer music. His studio recordings and live performances are both expressions of his self-developed software instruments and music-making systems. Through his critically acclaimed albums of the past ten years, he has explored various territories of electronic music and defined his own musical language. His audiovisual performances are multimedia experiences that fit best in club environments and festival stages with standing audiences. Gábor's forthcoming album, »Reflex«, will be out on raster on the 20th of September 2024.
