Mary Yuzovskaya, a native of Moscow who eventually returned to Berlin after stints in the German capital and New York, runs Monday Off, a label that specializes exclusively in vinyl-pressed techno with far-reaching psychoacoustic elements. In her sets, she meticulously weaves her way through hypnotic rhythms and dark, functional layers. Playing one floor up at this edition of Klubnacht is Tal Fussmann: with releases on Feel My Bicep, Rekids and Binh’s label Time Passages, he has earned a reputation for highly elaborate synthesizer arrangements. His tracks are characterized by multi-layered, often polyrhythmic textures that unfold with astonishing dynamism on the dancefloor. Joining him is Prom Night, a defining force in Copenhagen’s new wave of house music. The DJ and label head balances classic house, disco, and Italo with a sharp, high-impact edge. And for our Sunday evening concert on the Säule floor, Rex the Dog is coming with his stack of modular synthesizers, which he’ll use to unfold his inimitable, poppy prog-house sound.
