Japanese musician Satoshi Tomiie, classically trained on the piano, made a name for himself in the late 80s through his collaboration with Frankie Knuckles on their track “Tears”. Since then, the New York-based producer has released finely crafted music ranging from dub techno to acid and progressive house. His live set promises a return to hardware: Tomiie uses modular systems and classic drum machines that have inspired the name of his label: Abstract Architecture. This sonically precise design of house music allows his jazz past to shine through in the freedom of improvisation rather than in harmonies. For this edition of Love on the Rocks, he will be joined by Sonja Moonear, after many years will be returning to Panorama Bar with an extended set. Joining also is Dan Ghenacia, a key figure on the Paris scene and former member of the trio Apollonia. Ghenacia cultivates a style that filters the legacy of US house through a European, minimalist lens. Without losing himself in functional monotony, he strikes the perfect balance between groove and psychotropic textures.
