- - - English version below - - - OM ist das Projekt von Al Cisneros, Mitbegründer, Vocalist und Bassspieler der legendären und erst kürzlich reaktivierten kalifornischen Doom-Stoner-Band Sleep, sowie von Emil Amos, der ansonsten bei den Grails auf die Felle haut. Von 2003 bis 2008 nahm seine Stelle Sleep-Drummer Chris Hakius ein. Gemeinsam veröffentlichten Cisneros und Hakius drei Alben, das vierte, »God is Good«, nun mit Amos, wurde 2009 auf Drag City veröffentlicht. Ein neues Album ist für Herbst 2012 angekündigt, so dass man bei diesem Konzert einiges an neuem Material zu hören bekommen dürfte. Zuletzt gastierten OM 2010 beim CTM.10 Festival in Berlin. Nadja ist das Duo der beiden Kanadier Aidan Baker (Gitarre, Gesang, Drum Machines) und Leah Buckareff (Bass, Akkordeon, Gesang), die mal in Berlin, mal in Toronto zu Hause sind. Ihr mal als ›Dreamsludge‹, mal als ›Metal-Gaze‹ betitelter Sound kombiniert atmosphärisch dichte Texturen mit Gothic- und Shoegaze-Elementen, experimentelle elektronische Klänge mit der Schwere von Metal und der Lautstärke des Noise. Nadja veröffentlichen auf Alien8 Recordings, Hydrahead Records, Beta-Lactam Ring Records oder Robotic Empire sowie auf ihrem eigenen Label Broken Spine Productions. Originally formed by Al Cisneros and Sleep drummer Chris Hakius in 2003, the band released three studio albums before Amos replaced Haikus in early 2008. »God is Good«, their fourth album, released in 2009 by Chicago label Drag City, features a live performance by Robert Lowe on Tamboura. Nadja is a Canadian duo made up of Aidan Baker (guitar, vocals, drum machines) and Leah Buckareff (bass, accordion, vocals) alternately based in Toronto and Berlin. Originally begun as a solo project by Baker in 2003, Buckareff joined Nadja in 2005 to bring the project out of the studio and into live settings. Together, the duo creates music which has variously been described as ›ambient doom‹, ›dreamsludge‹" and ›metal-gaze‹, combining the atmospheric textures and elements of shoegaze and experimental/ambient music with the heaviness and volume of metal and noise music.
