Shygirl

“An amalgamation of genres born in the club, but not tied completely to it” is Shygirl's very apt description of her own sound. The South-East London born and raised musician, singer and DJ has been on a steady rise, for now culminating in this exclusive live show in Berghain. Proof of the above description is her genres-bending music itself, influenced by UK grime, pop music and industrial club sounds, but also the list of her collaborators and associates.

Shygirl has slowthai feature on the recent single “BDE” and Sega Bodega, Happa and Kid Karma co-produce her stellar EP Alias. Elsewhere, LSDXOXO and Basement Jaxx remix her songs, while she features on music by FKA twigs, Mura Masa, Arca and the late SOPHIE, among others. But this broad range of names, sounds, influences and aesthetics only reads eclectic written out – aesthetically and sonically, Shygirl is a singular voice, operating in a category of pop and emancipatory rap and she's made her own.
