BEIGE's mixtape AMEN! Vol. 1, released on Eris Drew and Octo Octa's T4T LUV NRG label, has been described as a devotional hymn to the redemptive power of house music. The title has a double meaning: on one hand, it refers to the most-used drum sample in dance-music history, the amen break, and on the other, to the spiritual power inherent to subgenres such as gospel house. For this weekend's Klubnacht, the Detroit DJ/producer holds service at Panorama Bar, joined by the founder of the Black Artist Database (B.A.D.) NIKS as well as NYC duo The Carry Nation, who bring their city's nightlife traditions into the present with their lush, vocal-heavy sets. Playing at Berghain will be Belgium's Kr!z, who has been running the label Token for over 15 years as one of the most solid and productive platforms around for purist techno.
