Klubnacht

Seoul-born, Washington, D.C.-based Matthew Cha is an electro-acoustic musician who combines a background in jazz with a passion for techno and an appreciation of post-internet aesthetics. His style, marked by saxophone and modular synthesizers, explores improvisation, minimalism and the power of the straight kick drum – as can be heard on his album A. I. Love U , released in April. His DJ sets explore the more experimental side of techno, often prepared on his Buchla synthesizer, combining its dynamic beats and percussion with whose futuristic sounds. Cha also runs the label Eklektik Elektrik and is a proven vintage soundsystem specialist, and we are delighted to have him with us for the first time at this edition of our Klubnacht, joined by peers such as Neapolitan techno pioneer Gaetano Parisio and Japanese master of hypnotic techno, DJ Nobu. Amsterdam duo Dam Swindle, who run Heist Recordings, will be DJing at Panorama Bar, bringing their skillful mix of classic house, obscure disco, African funk and soulful techno.
